When Diana paints the picture it’s a work of art, because it isn’t what she sees, but what’s inside her heart ....”
THE THINGS I DO FOR PAMELA        (written by Rob Ashmore & Tom Payne)                         ROBBI CURTICE & TOM PAYNE 1968 Except for me I’m all alone Working till it’s time for home To watch a television play And then it’s time to start another day, Though the things I do for Pamela seldom show I only hope one day she’ll come to know All the things I do for Pamela all alone, Things I would do for no one else, Seems like I just can’t help myself The things I do for Pamela, The things I do for Pamela. So take the Summer sun away I can’t face the light of day without her there to shelter me Let there be dark. What’s left for me to see? Though the things I do for Pamela she can’t see I pray one day she will return to me No the things I do for Pamela she can’t see, Things I would be so lost without, Seems all I do is think about The things I do for Pamela, The things I do for Pamela. Let there be dark. What’s left for me to see? Though the things I do for Pamela seldom show I only hope one day she’ll come to know All the things I do for Pamela all alone, Things I would do for no one else, Seems like I just can’t help myself The things I do for Pamela, The things I do for Pamela, Pamela, Pamela, Pamela.  Grev Norman (guitars) on left                                                                                                                                Chris Ward (original recording engineer) on right, taking part in technical discussion with Robbi (standing) when he still had hair. Seated on left in is long-term friend of the band Jeremy Hunt.
FRIDAY NEVER COMES                                   (Ashmore-Payne)                  by Robbi Curtice & Tom Payne                           written and recorded in 1970 Go back a week or two Think of a girl I knew Lost in a magic moment of the Summer, She said she’d come for me But Monday comes before Tuesday, Tuesday comes before Wednesday. Wednesday comes before Thursday, But Friday never comes at all. Friday never comes any more Friday said she’d be here for sure, Friday never hears when I call Friday never comes here Friday never comes at all. Fresh from the morning rain Named by the day she came When will there come for me another Friday? She said she’d come for me But Monday comes before Tuesday, Tuesday comes before Wednesday. Wednesday comes before Thursday, But Friday never comes at all. Friday never comes any more Friday said she’d be here for sure, Friday never hears when I call Friday never comes here Friday never comes at all.
DON’T EVER RING DOWN THE CURTAIN                     (Ashmore-Payne)                       by Robbi Curtice & Tom Payne                            written and recorded in 1969 Pushing his stick at the ground as he walks Making it get out the way Tapping the time away sometimes he talks Listen what he has to say. Maybe he will tell you when he played the hippodrome The audience all loved him, so no one would go home, And he still can hear their thunderous applause And he still can hear the laughter and the roars The echoes in the corners of his mind. Don’t ever ring down the curtain Leave him his dreams for a while, Don’t ever ring down the curtain Let him walk on with a smile. Once his name was famous and on everybody’s tongue Every dog must have his day but now his day is done, If you’d care to ask he’ll show you how he bowed For he still can see the faces in the crowd To look at him you’d never know he’s blind. Don’t ever ring down the curtain Leave him his dreams for a while, Don’t ever ring down the curtain Let him walk on with a smile. Pushing his stick at the ground as he walks Making it get out the way Tapping the time away sometimes he talks Listen what he has to say. Don’t ever ring down the curtain Leave him his dreams for a while, Don’t ever ring down the curtain Let him walk on with a smile. Don’t ever ring down the curtain Leave him his dreams for a while, Don’t ever ring down the curtain Let him walk on with a smile. The only surviving picture of the elusive Pamela herself! Here she is sitting on Rob’s knee, but sadly all too briefly.            It is rumoured that he never washed that knee again!
